Silicon Valley of India – Bangalore

The Bangalore/Bengaluru trip was one of my most cherished trips of mine. I was eagerly looking forward to this trip. It was late January, and I happened to ask my closest friend if she was interested in traveling in February. And she instantly said YES. And then, all the excitement started. We started planning for this trip. We had many things to take care of as we were traveling with kids – from child-friendly destinations, food, good staying options, weather, etc. Finally, we shortlisted Bangalore as it has many nearby options to go. And most importantly both of us had relatives staying there. So, it was ideal from a kids’ point of view.

We had planned for a 10-day trip, though we were a little skeptical whether the kids would adjust to such a long trip and also with each other. But then we decided to let us experiment, and if all things fall into place, it would become a starting point for our future travels.

We reached Bangalore late Friday night to our respective relatives’ houses. She was traveling from Goa, and I was from Delhi. The next morning, we left for a Four-Day trip to MysoreCoorgSrirangapatna. Our all-girls (mom-kids) trip started. We had a gala time.

Bangalore Palace, Visveswaraya Museum, Cubbon Park

On the 5th day, we decided to have a Bangalore tour. Post our lunch we went to see Bangalore Palace as our first destination. Our experience was not that great. The palace is now a private property, and the charges to visit are extremely high. It was a total waste of time, energy, and money. So, we hurriedly moved to our next destination Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. It is a beautiful museum with 7 huge galleries – Engine Hall, Science, Electronic, Space, Biotechnological, Electronic, and Children Science. It has become the major landmark of the city and a must-visit place. We spent more than a couple of hours (which we thought were very few) and finally went to Cubbon Park (which is within walking distance) for children to run around and play. We were extremely exhausted by end of the day and back to our respective places.

Bangalore Aquarium, Jawahar Bal Bhawan

Other places that we explored in the next couple of days included Bangalore Aquarium and Jawahar Bal Bhawan. Both these places are near Cubbon Park and are worth visiting with kids. The aquarium is well-maintained and very big. It has a variety of exotic fish for display.

The only thing worth visiting that I missed is the Lal Bagh Botanical Garden. Otherwise, Bangalore is a busy city and does not have many tourist spots. However, the city’s weather and proximity to visiting/connecting all four southern states make it a preferred tourist destination.

Bangalore is an ideal destination to stay and visit all nearby places around.
