Egg Shaped Island – Srirangapatna (Part 3: Mysuru-Coorg-Srirangapatna)

Mysuru | Coorg | Srirangapatna

It was the last day of our trip. We didn’t plan to visit this town originally, but our driver really insisted we visit Srirangapatna. As we had time and were on our way back to Bangalore, we decided to visit this town. And I have to thank our driver who insisted we visit. Otherwise, we would have missed such beautiful sights.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 (Mysuru) – Mysore Zoo, Chamundi Hills, Mahishasura Statue, Nandi Bull Statue, St. Philemonia Church, Maharaja Palace.
  • Day 2 (Mysuru – Coorg) – Brindavan Garden, Golden Temple (Tibetan Monastery), Dubare Elephant Camp, Raja Seat.
  • Day 3 (Coorg) – Triveni Sangam, Sri Bhagendeshwara Temple, Talacauvery, Omkeshwara Temple
  • Day 4 – (Srirangapatna – Bangalore) – Nisarghadama Forest Park, Balmuri Falls, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Tipu Sultan Summer Palace, Ranganathaswamy Temple

Nisarghadama Forest Park

We started our day visiting Nisarghadama Forest Park, which falls under Coorg. The park is an undeniably beautiful and enjoyable picnic spot. It is heaven for photo lovers and nature lovers. One can walk and enjoy the landscape, and others can have fun with boating, elephant riding, zipping, and hanging bridges. It also has a deer park inside.

Balmuri Falls

Our next stop was Balmuri Falls. It looks very average from the outside, but when you go inside, it is beautiful. Many South Indian movies have captured this spot in their films. The best time to visit this place is in the monsoons when the water level is really high. One can also enjoy the coracle ride, as I did.

Ranganathittu Bird Santuary

Our next destination was Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in Srirangapatna, an extremely beautiful place to visit, even if you are not a big fan of birds. A paradise for photographers. If you are really fond of birds, then you can take a boat ride to get a closer look. Else you can simply relax and walk around the nature trails. I simply enjoyed this place.

Tipu Sultan Summer Palace

Post our late lunch at the bird sanctuary (the food taste was very average), we saw Tipu Sultan Summer Palace and did some shopping from the shops which are opposite the palace. The shops are famous for silk sarees and are government-recognized wholesale shops. Hence, authenticity of the product is guaranteed.

Ranganathaswamy Temple

Our last stop was Ranganathaswamy Temple. It is one of the largest temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is so architecturally scenic that one gets mesmerized by its beautiful architecture. It is a must-visit place.

Tipu Sultan Death Memorial

The Kings’ Memorial was our 2-minute stopover before proceeding to our home in Bangalore.

And, our 4 days trip to Mysuru-Coorg-Srirangapatna came to an end. This was surely my memorable trip.

Tips:

  • Though Nisarghadama is a popular destination all year, avoid it during the peak rainy months and summers. Elephant rides are not available during non-tourist season.
  • All the places are so very economical in terms of entry tickets, food, and stay. One can enjoy it to the fullest.
