Garden City – Mysuru (Part 1: Mysuru-Coorg-Srirangapatna)

Mysuru | Coorg | Srirangapatna

Mysuru was one of the most exciting trips of mine. Both of us (me and my friend) planned extensively for this trip. Upon reaching Bangalore from our respective hometowns on a Friday night, we started early on a Saturday morning.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 (Mysuru) – Mysore Zoo, Chamundi Hills, Mahishasura Statue, Nandi Bull Statue, St. Philemonia Church, Maharaja Palace
  • Day 2- (Mysuru – Coorg) – Brindavan Garden, Golden Temple (Tibetan Monastery), Dubare Elephant Camp, Raja Seat.
  • Day 3 -(Coorg) – Triveni Sangam, Sri Bhagendeshwara Temple, Talacauvery, Omkeshwara Temple
  • Day 4 (Srirangapatna – Bangalore) – Nisarghadama Forest Park, Balmuri Falls, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Tipu Sultan Summer Palace, Ranganathaswamy Temple

Mysuru Zoo

We had hired a car for 4 days to take us around. It took us 3-4 hours to reach Mysore, with a breakfast break in between. Our first stop was the famous Mysore Zoo. And i have to say it is one of the best zoo i have seen till date. All animals and birds are in a healthy state here. Extremely planned zoo. The best thing i found here spotting of all the animals mentioned on the respective boundary wall/cage.

Chamundeshwari Temple

Post lunch, our next stop was Chamundeshwari Temple on the Chamundi Hills. Being one of the oldest temples, it has become a must-visit place for tourists. Though the temple is nice, its architecture is beautiful.

Mahishasura Statue, Nandi Bull Statue, St. Philemonia Church, Maharaja Palace

We took three brief stopovers at Mahishasura Statue, Nandi Bull Statue, and St. Philemonia Church before moving to Maharaja Palace, one of the most visited attraction points famous for its light and sound show.

Palace at night – Light and Sound show

The Palace is very beautiful with its Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The light and sound show is good but could have been better. It is slightly overrated.

Our day ended with an amazing dinner at our Hotel.
