Hidden Village – Shahpur, Maharashtra, India

Nature’s Place – Hidden Village is a place to relax for people like us who live in urban cities and need desperate breaks from their regular city life. Quite a place to relax and refresh one’s mind by getting closer to nature.

Way to the room

Hidden Village, the name says it all, is actually hidden from the world, the lesser visited/known weekend gateway from Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Went to this serene, beautiful place last month. It is approximately an hour’s drive from Mumbai.

After almost reaching this place, as per the GPS “destination on your right,” we couldn’t actually see this place; it was actually hidden. We had to ask someone who was traveling along the road if we had reached the right place. finally, we got to know we had reached correctly, & had to go inside the unseen lane on the right.

After reaching this place, it was surely a treat to the eyes. The place is a village, which is raw and basic. It has unique natural water bodies like fresh springs and a pool that oozes water around the year. Everything is managed by local villagers.

The overall look and feel is very natural, typical village style/rural India, but the facilities are A1 urban style (else they would not get visitors) from Hot water, AC, TV …everything is available inside the room.

There are approx 15-20 rooms categorized into different houses. If you are a couple, then Fern House is the best. It is secluded from the remaining house, and the location/view is good. And if you are with family, then any other house is good. Although Forest House is also superb, I feel Fern is best for a couple who need privacy. Forest houses are surrounded by a swimming pool (although the rooms are awesome).

Upon reaching this place by noon, we freshened up and went for lunch arranged for us. Then we went to explore the raw village which had – a natural swimming pool, springs, a free pedicure done by fish, a swing on the tree to relax ourselves….and lots of flora and fauna around. It was so relaxing to be there, cut off from the entire world. It felt too good.

Foot over the bridge above the natural pond

The place is only meant to relax, and there is no thing much to do in terms of activities. The things which one can do – read books, watch the birds and animals around, sit for hours in the water, chit chat with your partner/family/friends…  The air is so pure, pollution-free, and freshwater….everything was refreshing there. One can actually sit and do nothing.

It is indeed a good break for people like us who want to see/experience a village/rural life.

The best time to visit is – the rainy and winter seasons. It will be hot during the summer to visit, but yes, it will be fun for sure.

A big thumbs-up from my side for a short weekend gateway from Mumbai.
